Air Asia

Air Asia is Asia's leading Airline Company that offers low fare to the passengers. It operates domestic and international flights. The airline is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This airline was established in the year 1993, started operating flights only in 1996. In the year 2001, the airline was heavily in debt and thus was bought by Tune Air Sdn Bhd Company and converted the airline into good profit earning company in 2002. The second hub of the Air Asia airlines was started at Senai Airport in 2003 and started operating international flights to Bangkok .

In the March 2006, the government of Malaysia itself transferred 96 non-trunk routes and 19 domestic trunk routes to Air Asia. Air Asia Malaysia also has two associate companies namely Thai Air Asia and Indonesia Air Asia which were started in the year 2003 and 2004 respectively. As the reports in 2006, the airlines own about 35 Boeing 737-300 and 11 Airbus A320. They have also placed an order of 100 Airbus A320 in December 2005. These flights help Air Asia airlines to introduce new routes and also to increase the capacity of the existing routes. The airline has planned to build a new terminal in the Kota Kinabalu International Airport in the near future so as the handle the 3 million passengers that would also serve as the main hub to the flights to China. They have also taken into consideration for a hub in any of the three locations like Alor Star or Penang or Ipoh for the northern part of the Malaysia.
