Jetstar Airway started its service on 25 May, 2004. The tickets sales for the airline commenced during February 2004. Jetstar Airways provides International service to Christchurch, New Zealand which was started during 2005 December.
Now the Jetstar airway is operating only on few service areas with limited number of connecting services and without the baggage checking. Jetstar airways also offer the reserving facility to the passengers from all the routes. Jetstar airway is also trying to earn a name that, it is the first airline to allow the customers to pick their seat during booking itself.
The Boeing 717s with 125 seats is replaced by a new Airbus 320s, which is fitted with 177 leather seats. On December 1, 2005, it started its operation from 4 Australian cities Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast to Christchurch and Brisbane.
From December 7, 2005, the Jetstar airway has been announced as the world's first global low cost airline which would be initially providing service to the destinations at 10 hours of Australia. But now it has enhanced its operation to destinations like Europe and the America .
